On the hunt for why I cant use a class called Call09:39 am I found a strange bug in YACS! or my server last night, which prevents a class called "Call" not being able to be used, so I am on a mission today to find out why, I'm guessing its a server configuration issue.
on Aug. 25 2006 Geoff Thompson.com forum RIP - selfprotection.com forum lives !02:28 pm Well after a quiet few weeks on the web, due to my favourite forum on www.geoffthompson.com being abruptly closed, someone has taken the the initivie to setup a replacement: selfprotection.lightbb.com . I am very happy because I was left without any form of contact with the good guys on the old place.

flickr: johnseb MVC and Extreme Programming12:17 pm After recently reading about MVC, I cant understand what the fuss is about. I already seperate data access, business logic and presentation logic, I use event driven user input, these are things i've learnt from general Object Oriented programming, it just seems MVC imposes rules that create a strict framework, that can add unncessary complexity (frontpage controller as an example) and reduces portability of my code to other projects unless they follow the same strict framework based on the MVC model. Its not that I think MVC is bad, but seems hard to define (various versions and using different words for different things) which causes a lot of people to have a big headache over what MVC is eg www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184548 .
I think people get too tied down in trying to follow a pattern like this rather than following what the project needs. Whilst speaking to Bernard on the yacs forum I was given a link to www.extremeprogramming.org and have been reading about this different approach to programming and also found this link: www.martinfowler.com/articles/newMethodology.html#N401 and makes some interesting points on Aug. 20 2006 Visordown BBQ Party at Yoricks06:28 pm ~ My sub-category Me and Jen took a 200 mile trip to visit our old Friend Yorick. Met a number of new faces, caught up on the news and had a good laugh. Managed not to drink too much, stuck to my beer and avoided the Tequilla bar this time !
Rather tired. A big thanks to Yorick and Penny for hosting the BBQ/party and the rest of the Visordown gang. on Aug. 18 2006 Holy Cow Dude !Test Entry01:20 pm Testing YACS!
